Accupuncture Options

Hi Everyone
Just wondering if any of you have had accupuncture..
Been having physio on my shoulder since my operation in July and they suggested accupuncture. had first treatment yest but today fell really fluey and tired. one of the girls I work with said this can happen after treatment as it releases toxins... Dont know much about this but hoping thats all it is and not coming down with anything else. Have another session next week hope it does some good! The things we do eh?! xx

Hi Ceri,
Originally I had accupuncture for Osteo arthritis way back in 2005 but am now having it for RA too, I cant take any anti inflammatories so it was suggested I try accupuncture, I felt relief with no side effects from the first session so cant tell you if what you are feeling is after effects of session or not, I just know if I'm having a flare of either of my arthritis problems it helps enormously. Hope it works for you too....Eileen x

HI Ceri I have acupuncture regularly and find it helps to give me a boost from the fatigue. When I had my first treatment I felt very tired afterwards but don't have this now. It is good to rest for a little while after having the treatment and to drink lots of water afterwards too. Hope it works for you. Janice X

A few people have suggested this and I can get it at my GP practice (he's very forward thinking thank God!). I push myself quite hard and have always been quite busy and active so I can mostly cope with the exhaustion but I'm hoping it can help me relax a bit more. At the moment I'm listening to a Positive Thinking hypnotherapy CD which is very good.

Hi Ceri, I used accupuncture for about 2 years and found it the most relaxing experience in fact there were a few occassions when I fell asleep! But I felt really good for a couple of days after it then went back to work! Stick with it. If not try therapeutic massage it involves using accupuncture points as well. Brilliant

Hi Ceri,

I've had acupuncture for a number of years for various reasons. It works for me. As soon as the pins are in I'm usually out like a light! I've found for my RA it gives my body a chance to relax and I always walk out feeling way better than when I went in.

Alas, I also know other people who don't feel they've had any benefits. So all I can suggest is - try it and see if it works.

I had it a few times by my physio when I was going to Bath.

It didnt help much really but did make me relax better.

I remember feeling quite ill after the first few sessions of acc. Just keep an eye on things to make sure it is just a reaction and not an infectionx
